Why I do this...
I can't even begin to tell you how many quarters I pumped into video game machines during the
1980's and early 1990's. Like many of you, I spent my fair share of junior high and high school days
in dimly lit video arcades playing my favorite games. When I first heard about MAME and
got my first complete set of ROMs from a burner many years ago, I felt I had died and gone to heaven.
Eventually I did what many others have already done...
I built my own
arcade cabinet! For me, it has been a way to preserve a little piece of my misspent youth forever.
Since I can't invite all of you over to play it, I figured the next best thing is to spread the love
and help make MAME available to as many other people as possible. I like to think of it
as a way for me to repay the favor I received when I got my first set of ROMs!
Please keep in mind...
Retro-gaming and emulation is a hobby for me, not a passion. I started the MONSTARCADE site
years ago as a way to give something back. I do this in my spare time, but I do have
other priorities that take precedence (my family, work, other hobbies, etc...) I used to provide some
services that I simply don't have time for any longer. My main goal, however, has always been to help
people get copies of the rom sets they want. I am happy to continue doing that.
Got questions?
I've tried to make this site as helpful and self-explanatory as possible. If you browse through it
but still have questions *about my service*, then feel free to drop me an
e-mail.
If you have a question about
- which emulator(s) you should use
- where to download an emulator
- how to configure your emulator
- the minimum specs for a retro-gaming computer
- how to play [insert game name here]
- whether or not a rom set includes [insert game name here]
- how to use clrMAMEpro
- etc.
...then you really need to ask
Google, not me. I read every
email I receive, but please don't be offended if I don't answer back right away. (And if I don't answer back at all,
then you might want to try the Google thing.)
